As if one new Michael Jackson track wasn’t enough for the week, ‘Hold My Hand’, the collaboration MJ did with Akon prior to his death in 2009, has been confirmed by Sony BMG will feature as the first posthumous single from the King of Pop. It’s a completely different sound from much of MJ’s past material, reflecting a 21st century music industry Jackson unfortunately made minimal impact upon.
The somewhat moving ballad first appeared online in 2008 and a finalised edit has been released this week. Unfortunately, Sony Music don’t want music sites like this one to help promote the single and spread the fantastic music Michael Jackson made before his death, so we are legally prevented from posting any links of the song. I’m sure you’ll know where to find it if you want to listen, which we highly recommend – and download it when it comes out in the UK 29th November too!
Akon recently completed the new and final production of ‘Hold My Hand’ which will be released globally on Monday, November 15th at 12:01am EST. Akon said of the song:
“The world was not ready to hear ‘Hold My Hand’ when it leaked a couple years ago. We were devastated about it. But its time has definitely come; now in its final state, it has become an incredible, beautiful, anthemic song. I’m so proud to have had the chance to work with Michael, one of my all time idols.”
