‘Champion’ is a rather dandily brilliant new song we’ve just been introduced to by Clement Marfo and his seven piece band The Frontline. Together, they are known as Clement Marfo & The Frontline. Do you see what they did there?

It’s quite hard to pinpoint a musical genre this song fits into. It incorporates elements of hip-hop, rap, rock and electro-clash pop to produce a refreshingly different sound, but which clearly shows inspiration from the likes of Jay-Z, N*E*R*D and Dizzee Rascal. Despite the fact Radio 1 irritation Jo Wiley is ‘raving’ about the track, it’s actually a very likeable, catchy song which well and truly deserves the best of success.

The single it released 11th October, and the group will be doing a number of dates which are below – they’ve recently supported Plan B and Chiddy Bang, and are said to put on a good show.

23 September EDINBURGH Electric Circus
24 September STOKE Sugarmill
