Glee bad boy/general heartthrob actor Mark Salling is releasing a solo debut album, it has been announced. Thankfully, he will continue to appear on the hit Emmy Award winning Fox show, which returns for its second season this Autumn (God knows he’s half the reason so many people watch it).
Entitled ‘Pipe Dreams’, the debut album is said to have a country rock/jazz vibe about it, and is inspired by the likes of Alice in Chains, Nine Inch Nails, Miles Davis, and Herbie Hancock. Distributed through his own label, Pipe Dream Records along with Fontana Distribution in association with Universal Music, it is set to hit stores October 12th (just in time for the return of Glee, cynics might say).
Here’s Mark announcing the album:
In announcing the LP, Fontana Distribution said:
Salling chronicles the seven-year musical journey with a sound reminiscent of early classic Rock ‘n’ Roll, alternative, and a 60’s folk-beat era sound. He also serves as the writer/ performer/ producer on each track. Best-known for his portrayal of “Puck” on FOX’s acclaimed Emmy/Golden Globe/SAG Award-nominated series, “Glee,” Salling’s versatility and musicality are highlighted on “Pipe Dreams.”. The first single, “Lone Ranger,” serves as a musical anthem to the disenfranchised soul in all of us.
I’m not too sure where my disenfranchised soul is or whether it needs a musical anthem per se, but PopSeeker is highly anticipating the album nonetheless! A promo single ‘Higher Power’ premièred on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show last week, give it a listen here.
