The cover of Olly's new single

X Factor alumn and all-round “ordinary geezer” Olly Murs is jumping back into the limelight this month with the release of his first single, ‘Please Don’t Let Me Go’.

The track is typically easy-listening pop, with the slightest Caribbean lilt. Undoubtedly, fans from his spell on The X Factor will be glad to see him finally making a move in the industry, and in all fairness this offering isn’t bad. In respect to the genres of music dominating the charts these days Murs has a fight on his hands to make this one a success.

Ultimately the track is less than overwhelming, I personally find the two seconds of scat singing unnecessary, and odd words lost because there are too many syllables for the rhythm a little irritating, but even beyond this, give it a listen… just one?

The single lands on the 30th of August, with an as yet untitled album following in September.
