The once-YouTube sensation turned international popstar Esmée Denters hooks up with mentor Justin Timberlake on ‘Love Dealer’, her third single to be released off debut album ‘Outta Here’.
Her first single, the title track ‘Outta Here’ did really well in the UK, charting at #7, but her second single ‘Admit It’ failed to have the same impact, charting at just #56 on the UK singles chart. Adding his name to this track, Timberlake should be hoping to bring in da monies from the investment he put in to Esmée; he signed her to his new label, Tenman Records a couple of years ago and produced many of the tracks on the album, including this one which was produced in collaboration with StarGate – the Norwegian team behind hits such as Rihanna’s ‘Hate That I Love You’ and ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ and Beyonce’s ‘Irreplaceable’. Business cynicism aside, ‘Love Dealer’ is a really great, chirpy kinda track.
The beat is quite reminiscent of the Timbaland-Timberlake tracks of 2007ish which gives it a refreshing change from the GaGa-esque electropop out there at the moment. Timberlake’s classic sexual mutterings mixed with Esmée’s tuneful melodic vocals give the song a really playful, summery kind of vibe.
The video depicts the pair recording the song on the top of a skyscraper in L.A with various interludes of Esmée strutting around L.A with all her fierce new L.A girlfriends which JT overlooks. Apparently, the video is meant to show “the process of recording her song,” a source tells People. “Justin sends Esmee out into the world and watches her career take off as he looks down on her from a rooftop.” Bit arsey really isn’t it, but it’s a great song and a nice little video.
There’s a rumoured remix featuring Jay Sean to be released, but no sign of that in full yet – the single is out to download off of Esmée’s album ‘Outta Here’ now, and is officially released July 12th.
