This post was going to be about Kelis new single ‘4th of July (Fireworks)’ but ended up being more about whole album ‘Flesh Tone’, which is just completely flawless and brilliant in every way!
Who’d have thunk that after ‘Milkshake’, Kelis would actually go on to produce some really great songs?! I just can’t convey in words how amazing ‘Flesh Tone’ is as an album, it’s just beautiful. It’s not a very long EP, but every single track is just a fantastic dance record that she’s committed herself to fully; there’s not a single filler track (well technically there is, because the album has interludes, but you know what I mean). Dance music extraordinaries David Guetta, will.i.am and Benny Benassi all worked on the album and the end result is fantastic, right from start to finish you’re captivated by fat, squelchy synth beats and catchy melodies.
Anyway, after the success of ‘Acapella’, ‘4th ofJuly (Fireworks)’ was chosen as the second single from the album. It’s a really catchy, happy, bouncy kinda dance track that should put a smile on your face whatever the weather.
The single is released July 5th (if only they could have released it a day early) and is available to download off of the album ‘Flesh Tone’ right now. Seriously, I just implore you to just go and get the whole album – you won’t regret it.
