Christina Aguilera: ‘You Lost Me’

Following on from electropop stomper ‘Not Myself Tonight’ and her topping of the UK album chart last week, Christina Aguilera announced this week that ballad ‘You Lost Me’ is to be the second single from her album ‘Bionic’.

It’s a stark contrast to ‘Not Myself Tonight’ and if you’re a fan of sad ballads then this will be your cup of tea.  I’m personally not – well I am when its a power ballad like ‘Hurt’ or ‘The Voice Within’ but as beautiful as this track may be, I just can’t see it doing very well in the charts.  The album version is rather, I don’t know how to put it, barren; it’s just lacking that radio friendly beat, so the mix released to radio will feature a more prominent background beat

Christina said of it:

“You Lost Me was a song that Sia brought to the table.  She had started writing the verses and I wrote the choruses.  The lyrics were just so beautiful, so simple and raw, but very real and hit you right to the heart, that I immediately connected with it”

A video will apparently be shot at the end of this month, and it will be released somepoint in September.  Meanwhile, sites in Australia are claiming that ‘I Hate Boys’ will be released there instead of ‘You Lost Me’; apparently it’s been sent to radios and is already gaining airplay time.
