The Black Eyed Peas can’t seem to do any wrong at the moment.
Their album, ‘The E.N.D’ peaked at #3 in the UK charts at its release and has since gone 4x Platinum; not to mention 3 consecutive UK number ones from the album. They spent an astonishing 26 weeks at the top spot Stateside with ‘Boom Boom Pow’ and ‘I Gotta Feeling’. Their next UK single, following on from ‘Rock That Body’ is ‘Imma Be’ (which has already topped the US Billboard Chart, again).
It was originally released May last year as a promo single for the album and peaked on the UK R&B Chart at #36, but a full year later it’s going for a full release. The song itself is probably more old-school Black Eyed Peas than any of the previous few singles, and sounds not too different from ‘My Humps’ off their last album. Starting off slower with a heavy beat, the pulse gets much more upbeat halfway through. Much like ‘My Humps’, the somewhat uniqueness of ‘Imma Be’ only adds to its attraction; the phrase ‘Imma Be’ is uttered no less than 105 times.
What the song is actually about is anybody’s guess.
The video is below.
That was the video. It’s released in the UK May 31st.
