As pathetic as it sounds, I want to hate Miley Cyrus, I want to hate her bad. I don’t know what it is about her, but there’s always that little voice inside my head that says it’s wrong to like her music.
But time after time, she keeps churning out what are essential, fantastic, pop songs.
‘When I Look at You’, is no different. Taken from her EP ‘Time of Our Lives’ and featured in the soundtrack to the movie ‘The Last Song’, this ballad has more country influence than any of her previous songs, and boy does she do the ballad justice. ‘When I Look at You’ suggests we’ve got ourselves a little (country) Whitney in the making.
Unfortunately, the same positivity cannot be said for the video, a cliched 4 minutes of boredom featuring deep close ups of Miley and Miley playing a grand piano on a beach. It’s all a bit mehhhh and doesn’t quite do the song justice.
