Listen: Nicola Roberts – ‘Sticks + Stones’

‘Sticks + Stones’ is a brand new track from Nicola Roberts’ forthcoming debut album ‘Cinderella Eyes’. The Girls Aloud star unveiled the song on her twitter page and it is assumed the track will feature as the third single from her album.

Co-written by Roberts, ‘Sticks + Stones’ is a really beautiful, somewhat haunting ballad, which evidently has the singer’s heart and soul behind it.

‘Cinderella Eyes’ is set to be released September 26th and will be preceded by the second single ‘Lucky Day’, which is out to download September 18th.

We’re having to eat our words a little bit with all this new Coldplay material. Simply put, it’s all sounding pretty fantastic. After the surprisingly epic ‘Every Teardrop is a Waterfall’, the band have just debuted the follow up single ‘Paradise’ which is superbly anthemic.

This track is out to download TODAY (click here to view on iTunes) and will feature on Coldplay’s upcoming fifth studio album ‘Mylo Xyloto’, which will apparently feature vocals from Rihanna. The album is set for release 24 October.

There’s two words that come to mind when watching One Direction’s first performance of their new single ‘What Makes You Beautiful’: LAZY and RIP-OFF.

God knows we love One Direction and are utterly obsessed with this song, but the first half of their performance on Saturday’s edition of Red or Black? was pre-recordered and a total rip-off of Taylor Swift’s 2009 VMA performance, and the second half was just rubbish. Nonetheless, the song looks to be headed straight for the Number 1 spot in the UK next Sunday.

Listen: Kelly Clarkson – ‘Mr Know It All’

American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson premièred new single ‘Mr Know It All’ last night.

The ‘Breakaway’ star discussed the track on a Livestation chat, saying “we picked ‘Mr. Know It All’ because it was unlike any song that, really, I’ve ever come out with.”

“Secondly, just because it’s very different from a first single for me. Usually we go with an anthem, guitar-driven song. This is very different, and I was relly into it… It’s just super sassy and it sets up the album nicely. The whole theme is very empowering.”

Initially we were disappointed, having hoped for a ‘My Life Would Such Without You’/'Since U Been Gone’ style lead single, but after a few more listens the song has grown on us ridiculous amounts. It’s nice to hear something different from Kelly and we wish her all the best with it!

‘Mr Know It All’ is out in the UK October 10th and her new album, ‘Stronger’ will drop October 25th.

Before writing this post about Avril Lavigne’s latest single, ‘Wish You Were Here’ we wrote a particularly scathing line about how shit she’s gotten recently. Having taken one more listen to the song, that comment was promptly deleted.

See the thing is, ‘What The Hell’ was essentially amazing, but we were bitterly disappointed when the rest of the album ‘Goodbye Lullaby’ didn’t meet that standard. Despite a heavy Max Martin influence in the album’s production, the tracks just didn’t do anything for us, they were forgettable and skipable.

‘Wish You Were Here’ as a standalone single is actually a really solid effort from the Canadian popstar. It’s a classic Lavigne ballad, a bit of attitude mixed with an essentially sad sentiment. The ‘daaaaaamn, daaaaaaamn, daaaaamn’ hook gets a bit irritating after a while and the chorus is ridiculously repetitive but all in all it’s a rather nice little ditty.

‘Wish You Were Here’ is out to download right now from the album ‘Goodbye Lullaby’ and will be released in the UK on 26th September.

A few months back we rambled on a bit about Tatiana, a new pop artist from Poland who’s sung some Pretty Good Pop Tunes.

‘Been a Fool’ is her latest effort and much like ‘Spider Web’, her debut single, this is also a Pretty Good Pop Tune.

NEWS: New Britney remix album to be released

In a totally surprise move, Sony Music Japan announced the release of a new remix album by Britney Spears, entitled ‘B In The Mix: The Remixes Volume 2′.

Rumour has it the album will feature NEW tracks alongside remixes from ‘Blackout’, ‘Circus’ and ‘Femme Fatale’, and will be released in Australia on September 27th. No word on a European/US release yet.

We could go on for hours about what an utterly talentless waste of space Kim Kardashian is, and we may just still do that. I mean seriously, at least Paris Hilton occasionally hints that she may indeed have a personality, even if it does just turn out to be a momentary blip. But Kim Kardashian really is one of the most boring, uninspiring, talentless bimbos in all of Hollywood.

So it’s no real surprise that her desperate attempt into the music industry earlier this year totally and utterly bombed. Her debut single, ‘Jam (Turn It Up)’, which she recorded with The-Dream, made Heidi Montag’s album sound like a perfect acoustic set.
